The Expression 1640XL A3+ scanner features EPSON's most advanced scanning technologies providing high speed, maximum detail and superior sharpness and clarity.

The 1600dpi alternate Matrix CCD™, in conjunction with EPSON Micro Step Drive and high quality optics, results in an optical resolution of 1600 x 3200dpi. The Expression 1640XL features an internal and external 42 bit colour depth, giving the ability to capture a staggering 4.4 trillion colours and 16,384 shades of grey. Combined with an increased optical density of 3.6D, the Expression 1640XL can produce images with amazing detail, clarity, and definition - everything that is required by the graphics professional.

All this extra detail is captured at an even quicker pace. With a super scanning speeds of 4.5msec/line for line art and greyscale images, and 13.2msec/line for full colour, it is possible to scan and transfer a full A3 document in less than a minute and with a zero warm up time scanning starts when you start.

The addition of a USB interface with the existing SCSI connector increases the versatility of the Expression 1640XL. For the G3 and G4 power users, the optional IEEE 1394 FireWire interface ensures hassle free connectivity.

The Expression 1640XL can also be networked, either with EPSON Scan Server software, or now with the NEW EPSON Network Image Express - a hardware server for EPSON professional scanners, eliminating the need for a PC to host the software..

A wide range of high quality software comes as standard including, Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition, Xerox TextBridge Classic, Presto! PageManager, EPSON TWAIN Pro, TWAIN Pro Network and Scan Server software.
